A Short Thought on Mother’s Day

The system of this world urges you to spend a lot of money and to buy a lot of things on Mother’s Day, one day a year. But that’s the kind of “honor” that a materialistic, idolatrous society and culture fabricates.

Instead, the most honorable thing any child can do, young or old, on Mother’s Day is to honor the Lord on the Lord’s Day, joining together with his or her church family to worship and fellowship around Jesus Christ and the Word of God. What’s more, the most valuable gift any mother can receive on Mother’s Day is a child, young or old, living an obedient, godly life, no expensive gifts required.

So, rise up an bless your mother. Give her what matters most, and then do the same thing tomorrow, and the next day, and the next. This doesn’t cost a lot of money, but it is far more valuable than anything money can buy.
