Would You Point Mark Zuckerberg to Jesus?
Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, says he wants to “talk to more people about how they’re living, working and thinking about the future.” To do this, he plans to meet new people by visiting all 50 US states by the end of 2017.He's already gathered with a group of pastors in Texas. What did he conclude? That pastors are working to help people “find deeper meaning in a changing world.” Is this helpful? Does this point him towards Jesus Christ? Maybe. But it certainly sounds vague and unhelpful.
Like many unbelievers, he is asking questions about God. That is a good thing.
Zuckerberg grew up in a Jewish home, denies being an atheist, but chooses to associate with no religion in particular. Like many unbelievers, he is asking questions about God. That is a good thing. Will his questions lead him to discover the salvation that is in Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone? Only time will tell.
So what if he visited your state and met with you? What if he asked you questions and observed your work and life? What would he learn from how you're thinking about the future?Would your life, work and plans for the future awaken him to the God who made him? Would your testimony introduce him to the gospel of Jesus Christ and the peace that he provides? Would your priorities, goals and daily schedule show him what it means to live for eternity with full confidence, security and hope? Would his questions find ultimate answers and would his deepest need be met?
Many other people less wealthy and famous are observing you every day.
Mark Zuckerberg may not yet understand that while he is searching for greater understanding, God is searching for him. And while Mark may never observe your life, many other people less wealthy and famous are observing you every day. What are they learning about God? About Jesus? About the gospel? About hope and peace? About the future?Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:14)
